Aircraft Pavement
Repair Prolongs Facility Life
|
Due to the severe winter conditions in Minnesota, the aircraft apron and aircraft parking ramp at the 934th Airlift Wing had deteriorated over the years. PCE was hired by the 934th Airlift Wing to document the existing conditions, delineate the scope of the work and to prepare plans, specifications and estimate for the project. The PCE team prepared a grid system of the pavement
under consideration. A team of engineers and technicians spent several
days inspecting each joint and concrete panel to document the Once the existing conditions were documented, 65% and 95% complete plans and specifications were submitted for review by the client staff. The project resulted in 500 square feet of full depth repair and 15,900 square feet of partial depth repair, resealing of 84,000 linear feet of joints, resealing of 5,500 linear feet of old random cracks and 600 feet of new random cracks. The project also included milling and installation of 166 tons of bituminous wear course. The project resulted in prolonging the life of the pavement. Client: 934th Airlift Group
