Job Title:  Civil Engineer – 3 positions

Progressive Consulting Engineers, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for bright and energetic engineers to join its dynamic team. This position to work, under senior staff, to on one of the largest projects in Minnesota and to perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles. These assignments range from engineering calculations, computer modeling, designing and report writing. The work assignments will be related to utilities and water supply, including study, design, and construction services. Some field activities such as sampling, routine testing or observation of construction activities may be required.

The selected candidate will have

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental) M.S. is a plus
  • 1-10 years of professional work experience or co-op experience
  • Experience in Civil 3D required
  • Solid analytical background and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to perform field data collection, sampling, and other field activities as directed
  • Excellent oral and written communication, decision-making, problem resolution, and a sense of initiative are important for this position and career advancement.

      PCE is not new to the Twin Cities Light Rail Transportation initiatives. We have been involved since the beginning – working on utilities for the Hiawatha Line that brings riders from downtown MPLS to the Mall of America, the Central Corridor that runs through the University Area and the South West portion of the LRT.  We are now in a new exciting chapter; working on preliminary engineering of utilities for the Bottineau Corridor that will connect Minneapolis to Brooklyn Park.

ACEC – MN President, Glen Schreiner, presented Lance Newman with a special plaque to commemorate his last year as Chair of the Scholarship Committee  Lance began working with the committee in 2007 and has awarded scholarships to 47 students, totaling $110,000.00 He was instrumental in creating the special honorary scholarships and mentoring program for recipients starting this year. The Scholarship Committee distributed a total of eight scholarships in 20011

Naeem Qureshi
The Leonard N. Thompson Award was established by the North Central Section of the American Water Works Association in remembrance of this outstanding individual. Naeem Qureshi, PE, owner and head engineer of PCE received this aware at the MN Section Annual Conference in Duluth, September 2008. This award is made annually to a Minnesota Section member who typifies the standards were emblematic of Thompson’s contributions to the Section and water supply industry. Mr. Qureshi has a distinguished career in the water supply field and has successfully completed over 200 projects.

Nuzhat Qureshi
Kenneth J. Miler Founders Award  was established in 2001 by the Board of Directors of Water for People. It honors outstanding volunteers for their service and leadership in the advancement of the Mission at local and regional levels. The Founders Award is presented annually to a volunteer selected by each local committee of the AWWA Section or WEA Member Association. Nuzhat Qureshi of PCE received this award at the 2007 AWWA Annual Conference in Toronto.
